Uforoemem Bassey of Akwa Ibom on Tuesday won the gold medal in the female 44kg category of the judo event at the ongoing National Youth Games in Ilorin.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Bassey defeated Happiness Agu of Delta within two minutes to retain her title.
NAN reports also that Bassey had defeated Agu in the same event at the 2016 edition of the Games.
Bosede Folorunsho of Ondo State won the bronze medal while Faith Jinjingi settled for the second bronze medal.
In the female 36kg category of the event, Zakiya Abdullahi won the gold medal for Kano state.
Ondo State’s Odunayo Babalola clinched the silver medal while Magdali Maiyanga (Katsina) and Jennifer Michael jointly won the second bronze of the female Judo event.
In the male 46kg category, Katsina State’s George Enibong won the gold medal, while Tolulope Adedeji of Ondo State won the silver medal.
Badamasi Ahmad of Kano State and Azi Bitrus won the event’s bronze medals.
