The Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association has passed a vote of confidence on the administration of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as governor of Edo State, even as Igbo traders in the James Watt area of Benin City also drummed up support for the governor’s second term bid.
The President, Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association, Comrade Emma Edosomwan, who passed the confidence vote on Oshiomhole during a rally organised by the association at Uselu, Benin city, said: “The footprints of Oshiomhole is everywhere on the ground for the people to see across the three senatorial districts of the state.”
According to him, the automobile technicians across the state resolved during a meeting held on June 6 to, among other things, endorse the second term of Oshiomhole as governor of Edo State because of his developmental achievements.
“We are proud to associate with the comrade governor who has transformed the dilapidated infrastructures in the state and in appreciation of the good works, we passed a vote of confidence on him to continue to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people,” he added.
Oshiomhole, who addressed the over 3,000 members of the association, commended them for being able to organise themselves, noting that “if technicians can adopt me, who can undo it.”
He announced government’s plan to build a mechanic and technician village in the three senatorial districts of the state to complement the beautification effort of government.
“We will invite the leadership of the association to a meeting where decisions will be taken on the locations. This is the way we can pay you back, because we do not believe in sharing the money but to work for the people,” he added.
The governor also informed them of government’s reduction in their annual tax from N30,000 to N5,000 only, stressing that if anybody asks them to pay anything more, the person should be arrested.
He added: “While you are paying N5,000, the rich will pay more. We encourage you to pay tax because government money comes from the people to work for them. Today in Edo State, the government school is more beautiful than any private school.”
