Tammy Abraham is in line to face his former club Aston Villa on Wednesday night if he can prove his fitness in time.
The England striker missed Chelsea’s home defeat by West Ham at the weekend after suffering a hip injury in the midweek Champions League draw with Valencia.
But they are optimistic that he will be able to lead the line against the club he spent last season on loan at, according to The Telegraph.
Olivier Giroud deputised for the 22-year-old at the weekend but struggled in his first start since August.
Michy Batshuayi similarly failed to take his chance to impress when he replaced Abraham at the Mestalla last week.
Abraham is the club’s leading scorer this season with 11 goals after returning from a hugely impressive spell at Villa Park last year.
He scored 26 times during his loan spell helping to fire the club back up into the Premier League.
