The NSACCKD, TWG meeting, which was held via zoom in Niger State, was coordinated by the State Ministry of Health and State Primary Health Care Development Agency with the support of the Partnership For Advocacy In Child and Family Health At Scale through Centre for Communication and Reproductive Health, Bida Niger State, expressed fear that there will be likelihood of increased death of under-5.

The State Government also reiterated that only persons who fit into Phase one of the vaccination exercise which include; healthcare workers, COVID-19 response team (RRT), ports of entry staff, laboratory network, judiciary, military, police, other security agencies, petrol station workers, teachers, press, other frontline workers and persons of age 70 years above will be attended to at the vaccination sites as from Monday.

“I think it will be very premature and unrealistic to think that we are going to finish with this virus by the end of the year. What we can finish with – if we are smart – is hospitalisations, deaths and the tragedy associated with this pandemic,” Michael Ryan, Director of WHO’s health emergencies programme, said at a news conference on Tuesday.
