Professor Florence Obi, Vice Chancellor (VC) of the University of Calabar, (Unical), has disclosed that the management of the institution has no vested interest in the suspension of Prof. Cyril Ndifon, former Dean of the Faculty of Law.

In a statement signed by the university’s Director of Public Communication, Mr. Olatunji Oladejo, the acting vice chancellor lauded the Muslims in the university for using their faith to promote love and harmony in the institution.
Sources within the university told The Eagle Online that a meeting is being arranged for May 17, 2021 to consider the possible elongation of the tenure of the incumbent acting VC, though it is unclear if this would not be in the breach of the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) Amendment Act of 2003.
