The legislators, including House of Assembly members and ward councilors, were particularly charged to always take the responsibility of maintaining, monitoring and supervising primary healthcare projects and facilities within their jurisdiction.
In a two-day sensitization meeting held on Wednesday and Thursday in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, stakeholders, including the leadership of the state branch of the Nigeria Labour Congress, accredited service providers as well as the media brainstormed on ways of overcoming the impediments to the smooth takeoff of the programme in the state.
Mrs Mary-Rose Egwu, Executive Secretary, Ebonyi State Health Insurance Agency (EBSHIA), made this known during an advocacy/sensitisation meeting with the Organised Labour and other stakeholders in the health sector, in Abakaliki.
Currently, there are six major health intervention projects under USAID funding in the State, all geared towards capacity building
The commitment was part of the outcome of a three-day workshop organised by the State Primary Health Care Development Agency in collaboration with the USAID -Integrated Health Programme, 16th to 18th June, at the Cirene Hotels, Abakaliki, the Ebony State capital.
