Danbatta made the call on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, when the commission joined the rest of the world to celebrate the 2021 Library Day with the theme ‘Welcome to Your Library’.
The Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, stated this during a presentation to the Commission by a delegation from SpaceX, an American aerospace manufacturer and space transportations services company, in Abuja on Thursday.
Danbatta stated this while briefing the Committee members, led by their Chairman, Hon. Akeem Adeyemi, during a legislative oversight function on the Commission in Abuja on Wednesday.
Announcing the winners in a webinar on Thursday, Prof. Pat Utomi, a member of the Advisory Board of the prestigious award, said Prof, Danbatta and Kennedy Uzoka, the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of United Bank for Africa, are the winners in that category.
Two of the awards: “Human Rights Telecoms Defender” for the EVC and “Human Rights Guard” for the Commission, as a corporate entity, were presented by Wheel of Hope Human Rights Foundation, a frontline Nigerian Non-Governmental Organisation.
The Minister spoke when the Executive Management of the Commission led by Prof. Danbatta paid him a courtesy visit on Monday.
Danbatta’s reappointment was based on the recommendation of the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami
The NCC said this in a statement on Monday in reaction “to a mischievous statement making the rounds on social media like Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, LinkedIn and other sites that the Nigerian telecoms industry is going to switch on Fifth Generation (5G) in Lagos this Sunday 10th, Monday 11th or Tuesday 12th May 2020”.
“By our records, all improperly-registered Subscriber Identification Module cards across Mobile Network Operators in Nigeria have been completely deactivated,” the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission, Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, has said.
This was disclosed by the Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Engr. Umar Garba Danbatta, at the maiden Security and Emergency Management Awards in Abuja.
