My Chairman, the Publisher of ThisDay Newspaper, Prince Nduka Obaigbena…The story of his life is not as smooth as a bowling ball gliding on a varnished lane. It is the story of a man who flailed and floundered against the maelstrom and headwind of a tempestuous home-grown economy but whose resilience and steadfastness kept on the straight and narrow path to fame and fortune.

This is what happens when a newspaper becomes a mercenary tool for partisan designs. THISDAY has a partisan axe to grind and it seeks to grind that axe against someone like Asiwaju Bola Tinubu because that is what the paymasters of THISDAY demand of it.

Could it be that the THISDAY report simply mirrors the subliminal but disguised wishes of those who sponsored it that the Buhari administration should fail to enhance the chances of their achieving their own presidential ambitions in 2019? It is so tragic that THISDAY readily offers its medium to the use of political blackmailers, hucksters and gangsters. No price should be high enough to buy a newspaper’s soul
