While inspecting the bridge and other road projects in Lagos State on Saturday, Fashola warned that the encroachers risk forceful eviction after the extension.
He said this during an interview on Bond FM on Sunday.
The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, had announced the closure of the bridge on July 24, 2020 for repair works to be carried out on it but the government on Saturday reopened the bridge which spans over 11.8km.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Fashola gave the assurance during a radio phone-in programme.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Frederic Oladeinde made this known in a statement issued in Lagos on Wednesday that the bridge would be closed for 24 hours.
Popoola revealed this to the News Agency of Nigeria on telephone late on Saturday
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, gave the assurance in a statement on Friday.
Popoola told the News Agency of Nigeria on the telephone that the contractor was able to complete the repair works on the bridge on Saturday, hence the lifting of the total closure at midnight.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Frederic Oladehinde, made this known in a statement on Thursday in Lagos.
Popoola told the News Agency of Nigeria on telephone that the shutdown would take effect from midnight on Friday to midnight of Monday, Feb. 1.
The Minister gave the update on Thursday during an inspection of construction work on major roads and bridges in Lagos State.
Popoola debunked an earlier claim of a January 13 total shutdown of the bridge in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos.

Popoola told the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday in Lagos that the total shutdown had to be lifted because the contractor was able to fast-track the delicate task they needed to execute.

Popoola told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos that the shutdown will take effect from midnight on Saturday to midnight on Tuesday.
The Controller told the News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday that their actions jeopardised safety of road users, adding that security had been beefed up to nip the problem in the bud.
