Research is a core aspect of an academic’s career. Aside teaching, faculties are expected to engage in impactful research studies and strives to present their findings to their peers in local and international conferences. As with many sectors in Nigeria, higher education financing is grossly inadequate. Hence, lecturers often attend local and international conferences to share their research findings and experiences with peers using personal funding. Federal government’s attempt at increasing funding of public institutions led to the establishment of TETFund.
Gambari inaugurated the projects, funded by Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETfund) through its 2020 TETfund Special High Impact Project Intervention at the main campus in Keffi Local Government Area and at Gudi Campus in Akwanga Local Government Area of the state on Monday.
Speaking at the public presentation of the books in Abuja Tuesday, the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, said the dependence on foreign academic publications portends great danger to the nation’s education sector.

The projects include an ICT Complex, Faculty of Environment Sciences Building, Faculty of Education Building, Laboratory Complex and offices.

A statement signed by the Special Assistant to the Senate President (Press) Dr. Ezrel Tabiowo, stated that bill was passed Tuesday, after the upper chamber considered a report by the Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND.
The passage of the bill titled, “A Bill for an Act to Repeal the Federal Colleges of Education Act, 1998”, followed the consideration of a report by the Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND.

The Executive Secretary of TETFund, Prof. Suleiman Elias Bogoro, and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Kashim Ibrahim Imam, both gave the commendation at an event in Abuja to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the federal government agency established in 2011 to disburse, manage, and monitor education tax to government-owned tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
Buhari, who identified funding as a major problem confronting the Nigerian university system and as well the primary basis of incessant industrial actions in the ivory towers, said his administration had “consistently paid serious attention to the issue of university funding”.
