Ajayi notes that the convocation is coming as scheduled in the academic calendar, underscoring the fact that Tech-U, as the school is fondly called, is on the course of piloting a sound technical educational system anchored on innovations and technologies towards driving development in Oyo State in particular and Nigeria at large.
At the event held on Thursday, February 16, 2023, on the institution’s main campus on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Tech-U also presented certificates to 104 new Tech-U Scholars. These are high-flying students with at least 4.5 GGPA, who have now joined the existing ones. The university pays the scholars N10,000 monthly allowance to further inspire them.
A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the university, Akeem Lasisi, quoted the Vice Chancellor, Professor Adesola Ajayi, as describing the publication as hasty, speculative and unfounded.
The pioneer VC of the institution attracted many dignitaries to Ile-Ife, Osun State, on Sunday, where a church service and reception were held in his honour.
According to the NUC, Tech-U is seventh in the rankings of the state universities and 27th among the 113 ranked nationally.
The governor made the disclosure on Friday in Ibadan during the matriculation ceremony of the pioneer students of Tech-U.
