The Premier League newcomers broke their transfer record to sign Awoniyi from Union Berlin on Saturday, with Forest understood to have paid around £17m for the 24-year-old, who bagged 15 goals in 31 Bundesliga appearances last season.

Forest is keen to invest after sealing promotion via the Championship play-offs and Awoniyi has proven himself at top flight level by netting 15 goals in the Bundesliga during the recently concluded 2021/22 campaign.
The Nigeria international started his professional career with Liverpool but never played a first-team game for the club.
The 24 year-old Nigeria international was sold by Liverpool only last summer and his form has attracted interest from back in the Premier League.
Awoniyi had been stuck on nine Bundesliga goals for several weeks, with the former Liverpool signing not hitting the net for Urs Fischer’s men since scoring in the 2-1 defeat of RB Leipzig on December 3, a run of 444 minutes.
Awoniyi was on the books at Liverpool for several years, but never managed to play competitively in England due to work permit issues.
