The meeting was chaired by Senior Vice-President Issa Hayatou in the absence of Blatter and Platini, the FIFA Vice President
The news came after Blatter’s adviser, Klaus Stoehlker, had said an appeal against the provisional suspension would make no sense
“Blatter is disappointed the Ethics Committee did not follow the Code of Ethics and Disciplinary Code, both of which provide for an opportunity to be heard,” his lawyers, Lorenz Erni and Richard Cullen, said in a written statement
Hayatou made his position known on Thursday shortly after his emergence as the acting president
This followed the suspension for 90 days of both the FIFA President, Sepp Blatter, and Secretary General, Jerome Valcke
Klaus Stoehlker, an advisor to Blatter, told Sky News that the governing body’s ethics committee had handed the sanction to the outgoing leader, who is the subject of a criminal investigation by the Swiss attorney general

A probe into allegations of criminal mismanagement was launched by the Swiss attorney general against Blatter last week, while it was confirmed they would look into the circumstances surrounding a payment made to UEFA President, Michel Platini
Apart from the payment, the probe involves a contract, likely on TV rights, with the Caribbean football union from 2005.
The attorney general’s office said Blatter was being investigated “on suspicion of criminal mismanagement as well as – alternatively – on suspicion of misappropriation”
