The Rivers State Chapter of All Progressives Congress said it has read with utmost shock the “unfortunate outburst and self-glorification” of Mr. Joseph Mbu, who was recently promoted to Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), who in an unprovoked attack claimed to have tamed Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi during Mbu’s infamous days as Commissioner of Police in Rivers State.

The TUC, which vowed to go ahead with its proposed strike over the closure of Obio/Akpor Council Secretariat, said in the statement: “The Nigeria Police has No power under the law to ban peaceful protest in Rivers State. Sections 39 40 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria gives citizens of Nigeria including Rivers People the constitutional right to a freedom of expression and peaceful assembly
