The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, zone 5, Rasheed Akintunde, has ordered Commands under the zone to embark on manhunt for Bandits and other criminals.

DSP Emeka Iheanacho, the Zonal Public Relations Officer, disclosed this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria in Benin on Friday Iheanacho said the AIG’s order followed a petition by the father of the deceased, Anthony Omonuwa, on May 14, alleging that his son was killed in a police station in Warri.
He charged the officers comprising 81 Sergeants promoted to Inspectors and 33 Corporals promoted to the rank of Sergeants on diligence to work.
Akintunde said: “The remaining 80 per cent are just busy providing personal security to some ‘prominent people’ on guard duties.”
Akintunde took over from AIG Abubakar Mohammed, who had been redeployed to the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, near Jos, as a Directing Staff.
The affected officers are: CP Etop James and Rasheed Akintunde who were promoted to the next rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police, while it confirmed acting appointments of six Deputy Commissioners of Police to commissioners of police.
