Its National Chairman, Lucky Osesua, and National Secretary, Humble Power Obinna, gave this assurance.
Afolabi had reportedly categorised the PTD members as public goats.
He said he was the brain behind the programme introduced to the drivers as the Branch Chairman.
The protesters were loyalists of the Comrades Lucky Osesua and Dayyabu Yusuf Garga faction of the PTD.
The Osesua leadership made its position known in a statement it issued on Sunday over the leadership dispute.
The General Secretary of NUPENG, Olawale Afolabi, made this known in a statement on Monday in Abuja.
The group also commended the NNPC and NMDPRA for demonstrating transparency, promoting accountability and also for their pragmatic response in ensuring that Nigerians have sufficient supply of petrol despite the disruption in some parts of the country.
The strike, which would have kicked off on Monday, was shelved because of the intervention by the Federal Government.
A statement by the PTD Chairman, Salimon Oladiti, said it was very ”mischievous and unfounded” the news circulating in the social media that the PTD Branch of NUPENG issued a three-day ultimatum to the Federal Government of Nigeria.
