According to the latest data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), telecommunications & Information Services under Information and Communication grew by 17.64 per cent in Q4 2020 from 17.36 per cent in Q3 2020 and 10.26 per cent in Q4 2019.

The Sarki Bai of Bichi and District Head of Danbatta, Alhaji Isyaku Wada Waziri, and other beneficiaries of the DCF gave the commendation during the Quranic Graduation Ceremony of 21 students of Garkuwa Usman Community Primary School Islamiya, Danbatta Local Government Area, Kano State at the weekend.

The constitution of the committee was sequel to the requirements of the new Nigerian National Broadband Plan (NNBP 2020-2025) and reports of relevant committees set up by the Federal Executive Council, which include the Inter-Ministerial Review Committee on Multiple Taxation on Telecommunications Operators over Right-of-Way and the Technical Sub-Committee on Right-of-Way for Deepening Broadband Penetration in Nigeria.
This was revealed on Monday by the Executive Vice Chairman of the Commission, Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta.
Danbatta gave the assurance in a presentation, titled: “Communication Technology for Service Delivery in Health, Education, Tourism, the Creative Industry and Agriculture,” delivered during the first virtual and sixth edition of Information Communications Technology and Telecommunications Conference and Exhibition EXPO 2020.
The Award is coming few months after President Muhammadu Buhari renewed Danbatta’s mandate as the country’s chief telecoms regulator for another term of five years.
The EVC made this disclosure during the commissioning of the ECC in Owerri, Imo State over the weekend by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami.
Speaking at ATCON’s virtual forum on: “Meeting the Interests of Government, Consumers and Telecoms Companies in the Era of Covid-19 and Post Covid-19 Pandemic for Digital Economy Development,” Danbatta noted that the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Ali Isa Ibrahim Pantami, had already been briefed on the development with a view to ensuring a quick settlement of the debt
This followed the acknowledgement of his outstanding performance in the last five years when he appeared before the Senate Screening Committee in Abuja
