The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, made this known in Abuja at a High Level Consultative Meeting with State Governments on Accelerating Nutrition Result in Nigeria.
While describing the action of the embattled boss of the NHIS as insubordination, the coalition advised him to “tender an apology to the Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, and Nigerians for the gross misconduct.”
The Minister had earlier suspended the Executive Secretary of the agency, Prof. Usman Yusuf.
Yusuf was on Friday ordered by Adewole to proceed on three months suspension to pave the way for an investigation following petitions written against him.
The Minister made the call while meeting with the participants of the Course 26 of Policy Strategy and Leadership, led by Managing Consultant, Asipita Umar, in Abuja.
This was made known in a statement by Boade Akinola, the Director, Media and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Health, on Friday in Abuja.
The Acting President, who was represented by the Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, stated this on Tuesday at the opening ceremony of the 14th Biennial General Meeting, the 23rd Scientific Session and the 37th Council Meeting of the West African Council of Nursing at the ECOWAS Conference Centre, Abuja.
Adewole, who made this known at a handover ceremony of 31 ambulances donated by the Japanese Government in Abuja, said Nigeria was among countries with the highest rates of vehicle accidents globally.

“It is on record that the Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole is a man of integrity and his records are there for all to see right from the University of Ibadan as Vice Chancellor.”
The Minister of Health, Prof. Issac Adewole, who confirmed this development when he briefed State House correspondents after the meeting, which was presided over by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, said the agreement would last from 2017 to 2021
