The Vice President of the group, Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene, gave the commendation in a statement on Saturday.

Udenwe was announced winner on Saturday at the ANA convention held at the Mamman Vatsa Writers’ Village, Abuja.
Ikpeazu spoke as special guest of honour during the unveiling of a book written by the Minority Leader of the Senate, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, titled: “Made in Aba.”
He said that Achebe in his books philosophically reflected on the ills bedevilling the progress of the country and that the present generation of politicians, business moguls and thinkers should find a way to change negative attitudes for the progress of the country.
He said: “That means that those of us who are political leaders, the business moguls, I have seen quite a number of them who have business empires, our religious leaders, our traditional leaders, all of us must work hard to change this country

Paying tribute to the late Prof. Chinua Achebe at the Ekwueme Square, Awka, Anambra State on Wednesday, Ike said there was the need to rekindle the literary enthusiasm, which Achebe ignited with his Things Fall Apart in 1958.
The governor said that the maternity, which would cost N30 million, was to encourage the deepening of the collaboration between the Church and government in providing the people with love and compassion
But if the sheer force and range of Achebe’s fiction gave Africa a voice, the fearless truth of his critical interventions challenged so many myths and deliberate falsehoods about the most misrepresented and recklessly abused continent in the world. Achebe knew, and he tried to get us to know, that Africans will remain mere objects of the stories told by others, until they, Africans, have started to tell their own story their own way
The party lamented: “Unfortunately, the same Federal Government that is now writing glowingly about this great son of Nigeria lambasted him for daring to turn down its poisoned chalice tagged national honour, which it had hoped to use to get a quiet seal of approval from him for its poor governance and anti-democratic ways. A man they should have used to sell Nigeria to the world without squirreling away millions of dollars was pilloried to no end by those who are not fit to lace his shoes. Now, he’s gone! What a missed opportunity for a nation without a soul
“After the epochal Things Fall Apart that gave a voice to African literature and its people, Achebe continued his pioneering endeavours with the founding of Okike, a foremost journal of African literature that birthed the careers of many a distinguished writer. His work in leading research into the cultures of the Igbo and various groups in the Institute of African Studies further cemented the reputation of the University of Nigeria as a centre of liberal learning in the best traditions
He was initially reported dead last week but his family denied he had died
