The Sultan made this statement during the plenary session of the 12th General Assembly of NCTRN which took place on Monday in Kano, after a presentation of the policy to the Council by the ICPC Chairman, Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, SAN.
SERAP stated that “if there is relevant and sufficient admissible evidence, anyone suspected to be involved should face prosecution, as appropriate.”
It has been described as the misuse of entrusted power or a dishonest use of one’s office or position for personal gain. It is a cancerous global phenomenon, which has continued to cripple the developmental efforts of Nigeria.
The organisation is also urging him to “ensure the full recovery of any missing public funds, revealed in the 2017 annual audited report by the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation.”
This call was among the 14 recommendations made by the UN Panel at the launch of its new report, titled: “Financial Integrity for Sustainable Development.”
The organisation also urged President Buhari to “direct Mr Malami and the anticorruption agencies to make public the outcome of any investigation, and to prosecute suspected perpetrators if there is relevant admissible evidence, as well as fully recover any missing public funds.”
The ICPC boss urged Directors of Finance and Accounts in MDAs and Budget Officers to embrace transparency and fiscal discipline.

The organization said the allegations are documented in Part 1 of the 2018 audited report released last week by the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation.

The organization said “such investigation would help to improve public confidence in public authorities and minimize the risks of bad government by public officials”.
