In apparent reaction to a reported free-for-all by supporters of the ACN over the weekend as a result of battle for supremacy between the National Publicity Secretary of the ACN, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, and the party’s gubernatorial flag bearer in Kwara State in the 2011 election, Dele Belgore (SAN), the PDP wondered why a party’s registration exercise would turn into a shooting exercise “as if guns are akin to party membership cards.”

A few days ago, an assortment of characters, led by the Governor of Abia State, Theodore Orji, marched on the headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party at Wadata Plaza, Abuja, primarily to declaim their visceral hatred and fear of Dr. Kalu under the veneer of protesting his purported efforts to rejoin the PDP. The shady and duplicitous attributes of these characters are not hidden from the Nigerian people. That they are led on this disgraceful display of ignorance and squander of the people’s time and resources by the very patron saint of ignorance himself, Governor Orji, is not in the least surprising. But the willingness of members of the National Assembly, including, emphatically, distinguished senators of the republic, to participate, openly and vocally, in this extraordinary disadventure, brings unmitigated opprobrium to that assembly and further exposes the colossal failure of leadership in Abia State

In a statement issued in Lagos on Wednesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the ACN however expressed its happiness that Tukur has finally come to terms with what the ACN and others have been saying for a long time that the PDP lacks the wherewithal to preside over a country that is hungry for security and development like Nigeria

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Olayinka Oyebode, said the people of the state are “too intellectually sophisticated” to be taken in by unfounded lies being spewed by the PDP in the South West, whose arrowheads it accused of having been indicted of electoral fraud by the courts of law

I am surprised that educated people like them should be doing that because when Bamanga Tukur took over as the national chairman of PDP, he said his leadership will be for reconciliation. And when the PDP leaders of Ekiti State opposed the return of (former Governor Ayo) Fayose to the party, Bamanga Tukur intervened

In a statement issued in Lagos on Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said there is no better indication that the PDP is deeply worried by the talks than the resort to downright lies and abuse of the opposition parties by the PDP spokesman, Olisa Metuh, in order to discredit the talks

The PDP candidate (Appellant) had gone to the appellate court seeking a declaration that the issue of qualification is a matter which the Election Petitions Tribunal should assume jurisdiction on, while the ACN candidate is seeking to quash the remaining reliefs sought by the appellant at the Tribunal, on the grounds that the live issue of qualification had already been determined by the tribunal

The Peoples Democratic Party in the South West has described the purported indictment of a former Governor of Osun State and National Secretary of the PDP, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, by a panel set up by the Ogbeni Rauf Aregbeola-led Action Congress of Nigeria government in the state as “cheap blackmail and cover up plot that won’t work.”
