Obi made the comment while answering questions from journalists at the 85th Birthday Symposium of former President Olusegun Obasanjo held in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Obasanjo, who is on a tour of the South East, said this when he made a brief stop at the Vision Africa Radio, Umuahia.
He described Obasanjo as a leader with a good reputation and a statesman.
In a congratulatory statement on the birthday of the former president issued by his Media Office, Asiwaju Tinubu said: “At 85, Baba Obasanjo remains strong, agile and committed to the greatness of our dear nation.
In a statement he issued on Saturday in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital, Oladunjoye said, “Like him or hate him, Baba Obasanjo is an enigma. He cannot be ignored; in and out of office, he remains influential and powerful; within the military and political circles, his opinions are weighty and well-sought after; locally and internationally, he is an elder statesman.”
Obasanjo stated this during an international symposium to mark his 85th birthday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
Gbajabiamila, who described Obasanjo as an elder statesman and a nationalist, said the former president has paid his dues to the Nigerian project.
The President in a press statement signed Saturday by his Special Asssistant on Media and Publicity; Femi Adeshina joined Obasanjo’s family, friends and associates in celebrating the joyous occasion.
Adesina, in a goodwill message issued Saturday, described Obasanjo’s contributions to Nigeria, Africa and the world as exemplary.
Sanwo-Olu eulogised Obasanjo in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile, on Friday.
Atiku, who is also the Waziri Adamawa, in a statement issued Friday and personally signed by him said, “the celebration of Obasanjo is parallel to celebrating vision of good leadership and pan-Africanism.”
