Jibril Afolabi, Alhaji Amusat Taofeek and Balikis Mohammed were coming from Ilorin, Kwara State and heading to Owode Egbado when their vehicle was double-crossed at about 3am by some gunmen who dragged them into the bush, while other passengers escaped.

These were the words with which former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, described a former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in a letter he personally signed and sent to congratulate the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress on his 69th birthday on Monday.

Abiodun, while carrying out a symbolic presentation of cheques to some retirees at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, said the event was a demonstration of his administration’s commitment to fulfil its promises to all the workers of the state, particularly the elder statesmen and women.

Speaking at the swearing in ceremony held at the Executive Council Chambers, Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Abiodun underscored the need for the body to exercise restrain and uphold high ethical standard to midwife a local government system based on the principles of fair, credible and democratic electoral process.
