Speaking at a two-day Capacity Training for Women Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) on Advocacy and Communication workshop organized by the development Research and Projects Centre (dRPC) in Minna, an expert in Agriculture Extension and Forestry from the University of Ibadan, Professor Mohammed Kuta Yahaya, said it is a strategy for growth and inclusion.
While making this call at an event to mark this year’s annual Open Government Partnership (OGP) over the weekend in Minna, the team Leader, State Technical committee on Healthcare financing, Dr Stephen Adeoye said “to harness the gains of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund, the state government must develop a sustainability plan for its source of funding”.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the OGP is a multilateral initiative that aims to secure concrete commitments from national and sub-national governments to promote open government, empower citizens, fight corruption, and harness new technologies to strengthen governance
OGP, a multilateral initiative, with membership in 79 countries, was launched at the United Nations General Assembly meeting in 2016.
Ihedioha gave the explanation while receiving a delegation of the British High Commission to Nigeria on Tuesday.
The Open Government Partnership Nigeria is to partner with the Federal Government to adopt a globally acceptable framework to reduce all forms of secrecy in governance.
The Executive Director of the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development, Dr. Otive Igbuzor, gave the charge at the South-West OGP learning and sharing session organised by Partnership to Engage Reform and Learn, a programme of UK’s Department for International Development held in Lagos.
