As I wrote in a previous column, Nigeria’s next president will be coming at a time the country is agonisingly sundered along ethnic and religious contours; at a time of seething anger and great uncertainty; when the economy is in shreds; corruption at the apogee; at such a perilous time when Nigerians cannot commute from one part of the country to another for fear of being killed and kidnapped; at such a vulnerable time when a dollar is N600 at the parallel market, and when over 13 million children are out of school. Nigeria’s next president will be coming at a time of anomie.

Wike disclosed this in a statement issused by Kelvin Ebiri, Special Assistant to Governor on Media, in Port Harcourt.
Wike made the donation when he visited the state secretariat of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna as part of his campaign tour to seek for the party’s ticket for 2023 presidential poll.

Governor Wike said this when he met with delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party in Taraba State on Thursday.
The Party’s National Chairman, Sen. Iyorchia Ayu, made the call when the NWC gave audience to one of the presidential aspirants, Gov. Nyesom Wike, in Abuja Tuesday.
Wike, who stated this in Minna, on Saturday, when he visited delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party ahead of the party’s presidential primaries, said the Buhari regime’s anti-corruption war was selective.
He said this while addressing stakeholders of the Niger state chapter of the PDP on his intention to contest for president at the party secretariat in Minna on Saturday, adding that there was nothing wrong with consensus candidate if it is based on equity, justice and fairness.
“I’m not coming out to negotiate to be vice to anyone, I’m coming out to contest for the number one position in the country,’’ Wike, who is currently the governor of Rivers told party chiefs in Benin on Thursday.
The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress for the 2019 polls spoke to the issue via his Facebook page.
During the visit, the delegation held a closed door meeting with General Abubakar Abdulsalami who then followed them to Babangida’s house where the closed door meeting continued for about 20 minutes.
