A statement by Dr Femi Adeluyi, Technical Assistatnt (Information Technology) to the Minister, said the minister has directed the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), as the Regulator of the Information Technology sector, to engage vigorously with Facebook to understand the processes, level of security, etc of the data of Nigerian users in order to ensure that policies proposed for Nigeria strictly adhere to the provisions of NDPR.

The projects include the NCC’s Emergency Communications Centre, Ado-Ekiti; Digital Awareness Programme for Secondary Schools, whose beneficiaries are Methodist Girls’ High School, Yaba, Lagos State and Bishop Okoye Girls’ Secondary School, Ukpor, Anambra State; as well as the School Knowledge Center at Ijaloke Grammar School, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, executed by the USPF.

The Director-General of National Information Technological Agency, Mallam Kashifu Inuwa, made the disclosure at a Workshop in Commemoration of International Day for Universal Access to Information organised by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation in collaboration with the UNESCO Regional Office, Abuja.

The quite critical article I did on Dr. Isa Ali Pantami, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, quickly flashed back to my mind. I had received different comments on the said article, with some friends saying I was not fair to the notable Islamic scholar and digital worldview professional.

Contrary to wide speculation by an online publication that the Nigerian Communications Commission gave N300 million to the Nigeria Information Technology Development Agency, the Commission has stated unequivocally that the information was mere falsehood.

The two-day E-Nigeria Conference 2019, hosted by the NITDA) under the guidance of the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy and in collaboration with public and the private sector as well as Non-Governmental Organizations and the academia, focused on digital transformation as a tool for achieving a productive national economy.
