The Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Adamawa State Chapter, on Wednesday asked political office holders to make the welfare of pensioners in the state a priority.

Alhaji Salisu Ahmed, the chairman, Nigerian Union of Pensioners, Kano State chapter, says over 3,000 pensioners that retired from 2016 to 2018 are yet to receive their gratuities.
The Nigeria Union of Pensioners has demanded for increase in the national minimum pension in line with the Nigeria Labour Congress’ demand for increase in minimum wage.
The state Chairman of the union, Olujimi Odukoya, made this known at news conference in Abeokuta.
Abubakar said the decision of the union was based on the fact that Tambuwal had been able to pay N4 billion accumulated and inherited gratuities and pensions to state and local government retirees in two years.
