Prof. Simon Irtwange, the Chairman of the committee, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja on Monday that the target would be achieved if all the challenges, which yam exporters experienced in 2017, were surmounted.

Prof. Simon Irtwange, the Acting President of the association, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday in Abuja.

He said that it was necessary to allay the fears of the citizens that yam would soon become scarce and costlier because of its export.

A statement by Dr. Olukayode Oyeleye, the Special Assistant to the minister (Media), in Abuja on Thursday, said Ogbeh disclosed this at a meeting with members of the Committee on Nigeria Yam Export Programme
