The Nigerian Guild of Editors has rejected the new guidelines for the accreditation of media organisations, journalists/correspondents covering the National Assembly, describing it as primitive, undemocratic and blatantly anti-press and anti-people.

It also noted that foreign investors were needed now as their contribution was “crucial to revamping the country’s ailing economy”
The Governor, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Habib Aruna, said Egbemode over the years has proved her mettle in the profession, saying that her recent appointment was thoroughly deserving and an inspiration to other women striving to make a name in the profession
“The media has a major role to play in efforts to redirect the consciousness of Nigerians especially the youth towards embracing modern, technology-driven agriculture,” it said
In a statement signed by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Electronic Media, Simeon Nwakaudu, Wike noted that the conference would be a fitting platform to partner with editors and the media to consolidate development in both the state and the nation at large
It called for the immediate closure of all Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board centres that lacked the capacity to ensure seamless conduct of its computer-based examinations to ensure credibility of the exercise

In a goodwill message signed by his Special Adviser, Kunle Oyewumi, Kalu said: “I wish to wholeheartedly convey my best wishes to the executives and members of the Nigerian Guild of Editors over the successful election of its executive members
“I see Femi Adesina’s re-election for a second term as a vote of confidence on him and his executive. I therefore urge him not to betray the public trust reposed in him by editors all over the country,” he stated
According to the Governor: “The Fourth Estate of the Realm must uphold the principle of fair hearing, engage in investigative and in-depth reportage of events and ensure an egalitarian society where all shades of interests and opinions are given opportunities to air their views
The other executive members re-elected were Garbadeen Mohammed as Deputy President, Suleiman Gaya as Vice President North, Victor Agusiobo as Vice President East and Steve Ayorinde as Vice President West
According to Ayorinde, the election of officers of the Guild is a professional affair and not political, adding that veteran journalists and other members of the Guild would be present at the event
