The National Social Investment Office has refuted the misleading claims being circulated about the National Home – Grown School Feeding Programme in Kaduna State, that the Federal Government is spending N50 to feed each pupil in the public primary schools in the state.
The allegation was levelled by the National Social Investment Programme Office in a statement by its Programme Manager, Abimbola Adesanmi.
Osinbajo made this known in Akure during an interactive session with beneficiaries of the NHGSFP and inspection of the N-Power Programme at Alagbaka Estate Primary School, Akure.
Osinbajo, represented by Boss Mustapha, Secretary to Government of the Federation, made the disclosure at a National Symposium on NHGSFP on Friday in Abuja.
The total figure is expected to reach 313,928,420 meals by the last week of February 2018.
The States already covered are Anambra, Enugu, Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Ebonyi, Zamfara, Delta, Abia, Benue, Plateau, Bauchi, Taraba, Kaduna, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Imo, Jigawa and Niger States.
According to a statement by Laolu Akande, the presidential spokesman in the Office of the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Niger State has a total of 710,880 being fed in 2,411 schools in the state
The Deputy Governor, Chief Yetunde Onanuga, who launched the scheme, tagged: “Ogun Meals,” at St. Paul’s Demonstration School, Onikolobo, Abeokuta, said it is also targeted at increasing enrolment and retaining students in schools
