Striking resident doctors and the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federal Government on the industrial action that began on Wednesday.
President of the association, Dr. Innocent Orji, disclosed this on Monday while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria.
The position of the union was contained in a statement issued on Friday following the ruling by the NIC same day.
The association said this while reacting to the benefits the meeting between the association and the National Assembly has had in addressing the demands made by the association to enable it to call off the industrial action.
The Minister made the appeal= to NARD at the opening ceremony of the 2021 Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference of the Nigeria Medical Association, FCT Chapter on Tuesday in Abuja.
Ngige gave the assurance while speaking at the 41st Ordinary General Meeting of the National Association of Resident Doctors in Awka, Anambra State on Thursday.
At the meeting, issues such as non-payment of house officers, abolition of bench fees, non-payment of national minimum wage, salary shortfall for 2014, 2015, and 2016, residency training allowance, and payment of resident doctors on GIFMIS platform were discussed.
