Platini is currently serving a four-year ban from involvement in football – reduced twice from an original eight-year sanction – after he was found guilty of receiving a “disloyal payment” from then-FIFA president Sepp Blatter.

Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, told newsmen on Friday: “Of course, you know that the FIFA World Cup is a great feast of football and all guests will be welcomed here as well as the old friends.”
The Swiss Federal Court confirmed a Court of Arbitration for Sport ruling last year that upheld Platini’s ban.
Details of the hearing in August were revealed in a newly published 68-page verdict written by CAS judges to explain why they dismissed Blatter’s appeal to overturn a six-year ban in December

The Court of Arbitration for Sport took two years off the suspension, which was issued after Platini received an alleged “disloyal” £1.3 million payment from former FIFA President, Sepp Blatter, who is also serving a ban
“In appealing to the CAS, Michel Platini seeks to annul the decisions taken by the Adjudicatory Chamber of the FIFA Ethics Committee and by the FIFA Appeal Committee which lead to him being declared ineligible to take part in football-related activity at national and international level for six years. A CAS arbitration procedure is in progress,” read a CAS statement
Blatter and Platini were banned for what was termed inappropriate exchange of money between them
Platini said as he arrived at FIFA headquarters that he was not there to fight for his future, rather he was there to fight against injustice.
“If I had anything to reproach myself, I would be in Siberia to hide in shame,” he said
UEFA’s statement came after FIFA told the media recently that their banned President Sepp Blatter was still being paid
The Frenchman, 55, was provisionally suspended from football for his alleged involvement in a scheme to profit from the sale of World Cup tickets
The former French international has insisted he has done nothing wrong and was still hoping to win an appeal in time to have been allowed back in time for the election on February 26, but said he had changed his mind
His message contained some defiance: he vowed to fight the ban, insisted he had done no wrong and hit out at those who had questioned his integrity and honesty

The CAS said the hearing was only to determine whether Platini’s ban could be temporarily lifted, which would allow him to attend Saturday’s Euro 2016 group draw in Paris, France
It said the committee would make final verdict on the two officials on suspension within two weeks of the hearings
Hans-Joachim Eckert, the Chairman of the Adjudicatory Chamber of the ethics committee, has opened formal proceedings against the pair, having received the committee’s report that investigated an alleged “disloyal payment” of £1.3 million made from Blatter to UEFA president Platini in 2011
