“If everything goes well in training, then he will play tomorrow. He’s looking forward to it and so are we. I’m certain many other people are also excited,” Tuchel said in a news conference on Friday.
Usual captain Manuel Neuer is still out after breaking his leg so the Barcelona midfielder will fill in.
“I am doing great. My leg has become better, more time has passed,” the Münchner Merkur/tz publishing group quoted Neuer as saying upon his arrival.
The 26-year-old Nuebel has a contract with Bayern Munich that runs to 2025.
“You never know, but I assume it will be my last World Cup,” the 36-year-old player said ahead of the tournament.
The duo tested positive last week while with the German national team for the UEFA Nations League matches.
The Bayern Munich pair were called up to Hansi Flick’s 24-man squad for two UEFA Nations League fixtures against Hungary and Italy this month.
The goalkeeper followed in the footsteps of his teammate Thomas Müller, who extended his own contract about three weeks ago. Like Müller’s, Neuer’s new contract runs until 2024.
