The State on June 22, 2009, enacted the Hotel Occupancy and Restaurant Consumption Law of Lagos State otherwise called Hotel Consumption Law, which imposes consumption tax at 5% on the value of goods and services consumed in hotels, restaurants and event centres within the state. The tax base is the total cost of facilities, consumables or personal services supplied to a consumer in, by or on behalf of the hotel, restaurant or events centre.

The agency’s Executive Chairman, Ayodele Subair, in a statement issued Sunday, Monsurat Amasa, Head, Corporate Communication, said as part of its digitalization process, LIRS is discontinuing all previously used bill references effective from August 1, 2022.
The Executive Chairman of the agency, Ayodele Subair made this known recently at the LIRS headquarters, Alausa, Ikeja, advising all individual taxpayers, including self-employed persons and employees under the PAYE Scheme in the State to take advantage of the remaining days in March to file their annual tax returns to avoid payment of penalties, as well as other statutory sanctions, which may include prosecution.
