The Kwara State Governor, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed, said this when participants of Course 38 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Plateau State on local study tour of Kwara State paid a courtesy call on him at the Government House, Ilorin

The governor argued that apart from the fact that “Kwara State is a gateway to the North and the South, the state is not new in midwifing realistic Public Private Partnership as exemplified by the Shonga farms initiative, a new hotbed of Commercial Agriculture in Nigeria”.

He said: “Currently, Kwara State is experiencing high population growth due to the huge influx of people and businesses to our state, based on our reputation as the gateway to the north and south as well as the relative peace we enjoy

The Chairman of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria in the state, Barrister Abdulateef Okandeji, who read the communiqué, said the meeting also resolved that ALGON and other stakeholders will work out modalities on “how future allocations would be disbursed while prioritizing payment of salaries of staff from hence forth”

The government maintained that the repayment of the N17 billion bond, which was obtained by the previous administration of Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, did not impose any undue burden on the state’s finances as the bond maintained an issue rating of A and issuer rating of BBB- which signified the superior credit profile of the Kwara State Government

The state government, in a statement on Friday issued by its Commissioner for Information and Communication, Alhaji Mahmud Ajeigbe, said the affected villages of Okuta District of Baruten Local Government Area of the state are calm and still under the control of the Federal Government
