Presenting the budget proposal, themed: “Sustained Prosperity” on Thursday, Ahmed stressed that the budget was designed to boost infrastructure, accelerate agro-led wealth creation, create jobs and sustain the state’s development
Ahmed said his administration would complete the second phase of the rehabilitation of the State School for Special Needs while the International Vocational Centre, Ajasse-Ipo would be completed and the first set of students would be admitted during the coming year
Ahmed, who made this assertion on a monthly interactive programme, ‘The Governor Explains’, said: “There is no magic to our been able to remain liquid other than the fact that we have been able to manage our expenditure within our revenue profile.”
Ahmed said the 16 new boards, with over 100 people as members, would be charged with the responsibilities of running various segments of government to ensure efficiency in service delivery
The Kwara State Governor, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed, has therefore implored the Federal Government to reimburse the state the balance of the N12 billion it spent on federal roads in the last nine years
According to Ahmed, the state will not only encourage the youths of the state to be groomed at its Youth Farm Centre in Malete, Moro Local Government Area, to go into large scale Moringa farming, but work out a system that will ensure availability of prepared farmland with irrigation system to enhance Moringa and other farming activities in the state
The commendation came just as the state government released another N193 million to augment the initial N555 million for the immediate payment of local government staff salaries
In a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji S.I. Gold, the state government said the salaries must be paid in full before the Sallah holiday for which the Federal Government has declared Thursday and Friday as public holidays
