The spokesman of the Katsina State Police Command, Gambo Isah, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.
It was learnt that the deployment of Police Special Forces, Counter-Terrorism Units and Police Mobile Force in addition to the existing “Operation Puff Adder” by the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, to Katsina State led to massive raids and several arrests of suspected bandits.
According to available information, the bandits had struck in the early hours of Tuesday killing two persons, took 23 women and children hostage and rustled 74 domestic animals.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Sanusi Buba, on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, presented the cheques to families of the slain officers.
The students were said to be on their way back to Mahuta village from a Maulud occasion celebrated at Unguwan Alkasim village, Dandume when they were accosted by the bandits, who already had four persons in their possession.
The attack on the Emir’s convoy occurred in the early hours of Friday (today).

The deployment is sequel to the attack on Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, Katsina State by heavily armed men on 11th December, 2020 which left some of the students missing.

It was learnt that on November 12 at about 2-m, based on a tip off, the Command succeeded in arresting one Bilyaminu Ma’aruf, 35, of Kadangaru Quarters, and Sani Umaru, 40, of Gammo village of Dutsinma LGA of Katsina State, informers to bandits in the forest.
It was learnt that at about 1:10am, Area Commander, Dutsinma, led a team of Policemen and blocked Tsaskiya cattle route, Safana LGA, based on the report that bandits in their numbers, armed with AK 47 rifles, have attacked Tamo village, Kurfi LGA and rustled domestic animals.
It was gathered that on Sunday, at about 8:39pm, based on a tip off, the Command succeeded in arrested the suspect when he broke into the house of once Zakari Dayyabu, behind KTTV Quarters, Katsina.
It was learnt that at about 1am, the Area Commander, Dutsinma, led “Operation Puff Adder” operatives to Habul Mountain, on the fringes of Rugu forest, Safana LGA of Katsina State, based on the report that bandits in their numbers, armed with AK 47 rifles, attacked Gammo village, Safana and kidnapped one Hafsatu Idris, 55.
It was learnt that on November 13 at about 11:30pm, a Police Patrol team attached to Dandume Division, acting on a tip off, succeeded in arresting one Isiya Lawal, 24, of Makama Road, Dandume LGA of Katsina State in possession of 195 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
It was learnt that on October 27, 2020 at about 12noon, based on a tip off, the Command succeeded in arresting one Buhari Dalhatu, 25, of Turaruka Quarters, Katsina, a habitual criminal and an ex-convict with three records of conviction.
