Muhammad’s resignation as the 17th Chief Justice of Nigeria was made public on Monday.
Thompson Okpoko, who represented the body of SANs, announced the rejection Monday while delivering his speech at the valedictory session in honour of Justice Ejembi Eko, who retired having attained the age of 70.
This was conveyed in a notification dated September 10, and titled; “Notification of Rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria”, and marked LPPC/CJN/CH/M143/REIN/2021.
The CJN gave the warning on Monday in Abuja at a marathon meeting with seven invited state Chief Judges.
The new justices of the Court of Appeal are Mohammed Danjuma (Niger State), Muhammad Sirajo (Plateau), Abdul-Azeez Waziri (Adamawa), Yusuf Bashir (Taraba), Usman Musale (Yobe), Ibrahim Jauro (Yobe), Abba Mohammed (Kano State), Bature Gafai (Katsina), Danlami Senchi (Kebbi), and Mohammed Abubakar (Sokoto).
This is contained in a statement issued by Ahuraka Isah, the CJN’s Senior Special Assistant on Media on Tuesday.
Muhammad gave the warning during the swearing in ceremony of the newly appointed justices on Friday.
The CJN, who gave the charge on Monday in Abuja, also admonished the judges to be proactive and devise personal means to curb what he described as persistent delay in the administration of justice.
