A former Attorney General of Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, on Friday explained the reason he ignored court orders granting bails to a former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, and leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, otherwise known as Shi’ites, Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky.

The Islamic Movement in Nigeria has called on the Federal Government to free its Leader, Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, and halt the police brutality on its supporters during their protests, especially in Abuja, for the freedom of their leader.

Members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, popularly known as Shiites, on Tuesday embarked on a fresh protest to demand for the release of their leader, Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky.

El-Zakzaky has been detained by the Department of State Service since December 2015 when he was arrested following a clash with the convoy of the Chief of Army State, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai in Zaria, Kaduna State, in which about 1,500 persons died
