The three-man panel of justices led by Theresa Ngolika Orji-Abadua, ruled after counsel to Jegede, Oyeachi Ikpeazu, SAN, argued that the sitting governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, was “not properly nominated” by his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and so should be sacked.

Acting Chairman of the commission, Ibrahim Sambo, announced the new date during a meeting with the leadership of political parties and other stakeholders in Kaduna.

“ It is also the 8th INEC office to be attacked in Imo once the 2019 General Election.” Okoye said that INEC buildings, infrastructure and equipment were critical national assets that guaranteed the continuity of electoral activities throughout the federation.

Nigeria has a very rich history of constitution making right from the colonial times. But this was obstructed by military rule such that as at 1999, with 39 years of post-independence Nigeria, the military had ruled for about 30 years.  The 1999 Constitution was promulgated as a decree by the departing military regime in 1999. Since then, there has been attempts to reform the constitution in line with the aspirations of Nigerians. Various issues have been raised for review in the constitution. In this paper, we look at the recurrent issues in the review of the 1999 Constitution. But first we give a brief history of the 1999 Constitution and constitution making in Nigeria.
