Pekun Adeyanju, the Assistant General Manager of Public Affairs Division of Ikeja Electric, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos that the difficulty or delay would soon be remedied

According to the statement, power consumers within IKEDC network can now make payments or recharge via vouchers, Point-of-Sale terminals and online banking portals as well as at bank branches
The Managing Director of the company, Oladele Amoda, disclosed this at an interactive session with the media in Lagos to mark the company’s one year of post privatisation exercise
He told NAN that the company was faced with challenges of adequate meters and insufficiency of energy from the national grid
The Director General noted that eight months after official handover of the power sector to the private operators, IKEDC has shown tremendous improvement in customer service delivery, capacity building and network upgrade
Ajifowobaje added that it was also used to replace under-sized overhead conductors, completion of abandoned distribution projects, amongst others
He added that to ease the payment of electricity bills many of such centres would be established closer to consumers

Adeyanju told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos that the company was aware of the situation, adding that there would soon be improved power supply
The contact centre, according to IKEDC’s spokesperson, Pekun Adeyanju, represents the company’s commitment to deepen the customer experience through innovative and speedy solutions to customer queries
Known as “IKEDC Care”, the contact centre was upgraded to facilitate increased access to IKEDC and enable customers receive prompt attention on issues relating to billing, metering, faulty installations, etc, from the comfort of their homes and offices
Ajifowobaje said: “We have begun the installation of pre-paid meters for about 6,000 customers, who had earlier paid for the meters, and other categories of customers will follow shortly under our robust and comprehensive metering plan
During a courtesy visits to the Director of the Department of State Security and the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command by the Management of IKEDC, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Company, Engineer Abiodun Ajifowobaje, lamented that the spate of vandalism was becoming worrisome, stating that the company recently replaced equipment in 42 vandalised Distribution Substations at a cost of over N11 million in January
the arraignment of two persons, Isaac Eribadu and Sunday Olaleke, nabbed by the police last week in Ojodu BU/Undertaking for impersonating IKEDC staff and illegally disconnecting/extorting customers for non-payment of bills
