A statement signed Saturday by the Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari, on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu noted that the appointment is at the instance of the First Lady, Mrs Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, adding that the President has also approved the immediate redeployment of three of the political appointees in her office to the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, pending their assignment to some other government departments or agencies.

Speaking after a meeting of the group’s leaders at Century Hotel, Okota, Lagos on Tuesday, Otunba Wasiu Afolabi, alias Askari, Deputy President to the late OPC Founder, Dr. Frederick Fasehun, said the government had shown that it preferred to defend Fulani from outside Nigeria instead of protecting the country’s citizens and indigenes.

Struggle over grazing land and scarce resources have over the years resulted in perennial and growing violent conflicts in terms of frequency, intensity and geographic scope. Underpinning the escalation in frequency of conflicts in Nigeria is a confluence of environmental and demographic forces, especially desertification caused by climate change and population explosion.

The Ambassador of the State of Qatar in Nigeria, Mubarak AlMuhannadi, made the donation on Tuesday in Abuja when Senator Basheer Mohammed, the Federal Commissioner, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, paid him a visit.
