In a letter addressed to the President, the world’s leading anti-corruption coalition expressed deep concern that the political interference in the operation of the EFCC and inability of the Nigerian authorities to release the report was partly responsible for the recent drop in Nigeria’s anti-corruption rating by Transparency International.

This appears to be the fate of Ibrahim Magu, suspended acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. I had chanced on Magu at media briefings and anti-corruption programmes. He was bubbling with passion for his job. You cannot fault him on dedication to duty, but you can spread him out on the slab of exuberance, naivety and sycophancy for some lashing.

Fielding questions from State House correspondents on issues raised by Peoples Democratic Party since the beginning of the interrogation of suspended acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said the volume and reach of the anti-corruption crusade so far reflects what the PDP left behind.
