President Muhammadu Buhari has unveiled the successor to Ibrahim Kpotun Idris as Inspector General of Police.

The EFCC this week reported attack on its premises and a death threat to its official, Ishaku Sharu, who heads the Foreign Exchange Malpractices Fraud Section and oversees corruption investigation involving several politically exposed persons.
Speaking to State House correspondents after the decoration, Idris assured Nigerians that under his leadership, the Nigeria Police Force would be governed by internationally recognised core values of policing.
Although many of them have not reached retirement age, but the police tradition is that all DIGs would embark on compulsory retirement since they are all senior to Idris
Until his nomination, which will be confirmed later on Tuesday (today) by the Presidency, Idris was the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations at the Force Headquarters, Abuja
