The resolution followed the adoption of a motion on “Urgent national importance on the deplorable state of Inmates and the unwholesome working conditions of Officers and Men of the Nigeria Correctional Service despite huge budgetary allocations with attendant adverse effects on security of custodial facilities and the new mandate of the Service, sponsored by the Minority Leader, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu (Delta PDP)

Former governor of Bayelsa State and senator representing Bayelsa West in the National Assembly, Henry Seriake Dickson, has risen stoutly in defence of the embattled national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Uche Secondus, saying he cannot be removed whimsically or be asked to resign for no just cause.

“Eid-el-Kabir, no doubt, teaches us, as leaders and a people, that with faith in God, selflessness, honesty and transparency, particularly on the part of elected leaders in pursuing the good of all, our nation will overcome all her challenges,” it said on Monday, in a statement signed by the Minority Leader, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu.

Minority Leader of the House, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu (PDP Delta) on Thursday stressed that while the caucus is not against any genuine visa clearance measures, especially those placed to curb drug trafficking and other criminal tendencies, it is however concerned about policies such as fees that tend to place undue pressure on innocent citizens.
