The governor in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji Abdulwahab Oba, on Sunday in Ilorin, said the Super Eagles’ qualification has once more demonstrated the nation’s strength in football, which made Nigeria the first African country to qualify for the FIFA mundial in Russia.
Governor Ahmed stated this on Tuesday in Ilorin at the flag off of the distribution of free hearing aids to Hearing Impaired People of Kwara State, organised by Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation and Starkey Hearing Foundation.
According to a statement by the Secretary to the Kwara State Government, Alhaji Isiaka Sola Gold, Governor Ahmed approved the movement of Engineer Idris Garba from the Ministry of Energy to the Ministry of Industry and Solid Mineral Resources, while Alhaja Fumilayo Isiaka Oniwa moves from Ministry of Industry and Solid Mineral Resources to the Ministry of Commerce and Cooperatives.
Ahmed, who congratulated Nigerians on the 57th anniversary of Nigeria’s independence, said with the current efforts of the Federal Government at economic recovery, the nation is poised for greatness.
Ahmed said this at a dinner in honour of the state’s Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Kamaldeen Ajibade, on his elevation to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria at the Banquet Hall, Ilorin.
Ahmed said this will bring financial reprieve to the state through savings that will be invested in rehabilitating state roads, especially rural roads, in addition to attracting investments.
Ahmed, in a congratulatory message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji Abdulwahaab Oba, said he is excited for the display of Ojaide’s poetic prowess, which earned him the award.
Speaking during a Sallah homage paid on him by traditional rulers from Kwara North Senatorial District at the Government House, Ilorin on Tuesday, Ahmed said the Ilorin-Old Jebba Road is currently undergoing rehabilitation, while Tsaragi-Shonga Road is on the front burner.
Speaking during the yearly Sallah homage by the Chairman, Kwara StateTraditional Council and the Emir of Ilorin, HRH Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, at Government House, Ilorin, the governor said the agricultural programme of the federal government is a focal point for diversification of the Nigerian economy.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Abdulwahab Oba, Ahmed said the opportunity by Allah “to enable us witness yet another celebration should be used to pray for peace and unity in the country”.
According to the governor, the continuous funding and payment of basic level teachers by the local governments is hindering the growth of education at the foundational level.
According to Dr. Ahmed, the state government has put in place the Kwara Infrastructure Development Fund as a sustainable funding window through an improved internally generated revenues to fund capital projects.
Ahmed handed down this warning on Tuesday during a stakeholders meeting with various religious leaders, political leaders, labour leaders and members of security and executive councils at the Government House, Ilorin.
The State Governor, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed, disclosed this when he received the National President, Licensed Electrical Contractors Association of Nigeria, Otunba Dele Akintola, at the Government House, Ilorin.
Speaking during a courtesy call on him by the Coordinator, Nigerian Army Aviation, Major General Johnson Olawumi, at Government House, Ilorin, Ahmed said the need to make Kwara a state of preference by investors and turn around time of training regular pilots in the country are among the reasons for the establishment of the college.
