In a goodwill message on the occasion of Babangida’s 80th birthday anniversary on Tuesday, 17th of August, Atiku stated that Babangida established a record of an inclusive government that reflected Nigeria’s ethnic and religious diversity.

She added that no other Nigerian President has been more abused by Nigerians, and if curses could kill, IBB should have been long dead and forgotten. In the wake of the annulment of the 1993 Presidential election by the Babangida junta, activists in the South West rained curses on IBB.

When will Gowon, Shagari, Shonekan, Abdusalami Abubakar, Jonathan and Danjuma speak up? Their silence is not golden in this instance. It amounts to an abdication of responsibility. For a country that has done so much for them, they cannot afford to sit on the fence
