The 30th edition of the AfroBasket, men’s basketball continental championship of Africa, is scheduled to take place between 24 August and 5 September 2021 in Kigali, Rwanda’s capital city.

In a reaction to some media publications which insinuated that Nigeria was in the race to host the biggest competition on the continent, the board said it was just a figment of some people’s imagination.

The victorious D’Tigress team and some members of the Nigeria Basketball Federation Board led by its President, Engr. Musa Kida, paid a courtesy call on the newly-appointed Minister of Sport, Sunday Dare, in his office in Abuja.
D’Tigress Head Coach, Otis Hughley, is confident that his team has chances of successfully defending their FIBA AFROBASKET title when the competition gets underway on August 9, 2019.
Despite admitting the threat posed by the host, the coach is confident that Nigeria can repeat their 2017 FIBA Afrobasket feat where they defeated Mali by 90-67 points at the group stage
The team will arrive without their Captain, Ike Diogu, who will head for the United States of America due to family commitments
