The Acting Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has warned that serious sanctions awaited police operatives engaged in extortion and harassment, particularly on interstate highways.

The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit (TASKFORCE) has stated that neither the agency nor the operatives have a hand in the extortion of a 77-year-old man, describing those who did as some unscrupulous individuals parading themselves as officials of the agency.
