The championship is her first indoor competition.
The contingent including Silver winning wrestler Blessing Oborududu and Long Jump Bronze medalist Ese Brume touched down in the afternoon, a day before the official closing ceremony.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the result could only place the team in sixth position in the eight-team heat 2 of the competition’s first round.
Oborududu and Brume were presented their cash by the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare.
Ese Brume and Blessing Obodururu gave Nigeria bronze and silver medals at the Games respectively.
She took bronze after leaping 6.97 metres to come third in the women’s long jump event.
Her qualification guarantees Team Nigeria a silver or gold medal in Tokyo Olympics.
The Adopt-an-Athlete initiative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development under the leadership of the Minister, Sunday Dare, has continued to attract more private and public sector partnerships.
